Charting a Sustainable Course: Special Issue on Evolution and Sustainability
Today, the Royal Society released a special issue titled "Evolution and sustainability: gathering the strands for an Anthropocene synthesis," co-edited by Peter Søgaard Jørgensen, showcasing original research and opinion pieces on human evolution's impact on Earth's sustainability. This issue, featuring contributions from the PHASES research team members Peter, Raf E. V. Jansen, and Daniel I. Avila Ortega, highlights innovative approaches to integrating evolutionary theory with social-ecological systems. Their work, including an opinion piece on integrating the two disciplines and a detailed study on evolutionary traps, underlines the necessity of multidisciplinary efforts in navigating the challenges of the Anthropocene.
