Presentation at Uppsala Dialogue Meeting
In early May 2023, experts from more than 20 countries including international organizations, civil society, academia, and national experts convened at the Uppsala Dialogue Meeting for a two-day conference. The main outcome of the dialogue meeting is to identify key steps and components of a roadmap, including concrete targets, towards the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in 2024. Our PHASE team, including Dr Peter Søgaard Jørgensen and his PhD student, Luong Nguyen Thanh, proudly participated in this significant event, contributing their expertise and insights to foster fruitful discussions.
On the first day, our group leader, Peter, gave a presentation that shed light on the pressing issue of AMR as a sustainability challenge Notably, Peter introduced the concept of the AMR "doughnut", which garnered significant attention and engagement from the audience. Also, on the first day, participants discussed the state of the global response on AMR, unmet needs and opportunities for collective action.
On the second day, participants at the meeting discussed various approaches to collective action, focusing on national and global governance, the role of civil society, and financing the AMR response. Here are key takeaways from the meeting. For the full report, please visit the ReAct website.
